Angela Draghicescu, a native of Romania, currently serves as Collaborative Pianist at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA. She joined the Department of Music in the fall of 2012. Dr. Draghicescu has toured the world as a duo and chamber music pianist in venues that include Carnegie Hall, Benaroya Hall Seattle, George Enescu Philharmonic Romania, Rudolfinium Prague, Mahidon Auditorium Thailand, Hindemith Institute Switzerland, Behague Palace Paris and other venues in Romania, Hungary, France, and Norway. She has collaborated with artists such as the Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic Frank Huang, violinists Brian Lewis, Remus Azoitei and Charles Sewart, Naumburg Competition winner cellist David Requiro, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra trumpet player David Bond and former Canadian Brass french horn player Jeff Nelsen. As a masterclass pianist, she has been invited to perform for such incredible musicians as Joseph Alessi, Jean Barr, Warren Jones, Paul Edmund-Davies, Charles Sewart, Josephine Knight to name but a few.  For 2016-2017 Dr. Draghicescu was invited to promote the music of George Enescu, Dinu Lipatti and leading contemporary Romanian composers in a European and U.S. tour supported by the Romanian Cultural Institute. Future concert venues include Carnegie Hall New York, Harpa Reykjavik, Atheneum Bucharest, Concertgebouw Amsterdam as well as the RCI concert halls venues in New York, Paris, London, Prague, Bruxelles and Washington D.C.  Dr. Draghicescu is currently working on releasing her first CD that will include a newly commissioned piece by her from Pulitzer Prize awarded composer William Bolcom.
