Oboist Ivan Danko, the principal oboist of the Stuttgart State Opera and first prize winner of the “International Hugo Kauder Competition” in New Haven in 2009, founded the Hugo Kauder Trio. From Danko’s earlier music with the violist Róbert Lakatos and pianist Ladislav Fanzowitz the idea for this unique trio was born. Oboe, Viola and Piano are a sonically interesting alternative to the classic piano trio and open a path to an extraordinary and novel repertoire. In search of suitable music, the musicians discovered the oeuvre of Hugo Kauder (1888 – 1972). Kauder (now Tovacov, Czech Republic) was born in Tobitschau near Olomouc and is part of the generation of persecuted and displaced Jewish artists of the 20th century. Its origin and its late romantic, largely unknown music, especially their central European folk music elements inspired the ensemble to the name Hugo Kauder Trio. The trio is trying to discover great works of other persecuted and unknown composers of the 19th and 20th centuries, and to convey this to the public. $75- Buffet/wine-ample parking on the street.
