CHAMBER MUSIC OF DEBUSSY & RAVEL

About Ann Schein, the Washington Post has written “Thank heaven for Ann Schein…what a relief it is to hear a pianist who, with no muss or fuss, simply reaches right into the heart of whatever she is playing – and creates music so powerful you cannot tear yourself away.” Between 1966 and 1986, Earl Carlyss was a member of the Juilliard String Quartet during which time he performed over 2100 concerts and recorded more than 100 works. Three of their recordings, the Debussy and Ravel Quartets, the Schoenberg Quartets, and the Beethoven Quartets, received Grammy Awards for the “Best Chamber Music Recording of the Year.”  Mr. Carlyss has been the Director of the Aspen Center for Advanced Quartet Studies since 1984.   Darret Adkins’s  Aspen debut was made with James Conlon conducting Boulez’s “Messagesquisse” on just 3 days notice. Recently, he was a guest of the Juilliard String Quartet recording Jay Greenberg’s String Quintet (Sony Masterworks).  His recording of duos by Ravel,  Kodály and Sessions on Engine Company Records reached the top ten on Amazon.com, and stayed in the top spot on emusic.com for several weeks.  Mr. Adkins serves on the cello and chamber music faculties of the Juilliard School, the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and the Aspen Music Festival and School. $65/limited garage parking per car $8/artists’ reception/wine.
